I’m running Win98 4.1 on a Peer to Peer Ethernet LAN with five Win 98 machines and am having trouble getting Client for Microsoft Networks set-up on one of them. We’ve been running IPX/SPX but are switching over to TCP/IP and all machines but one (a Pentium I laptop) have made the jump alright. The recalcitrant keeps dropping the Client for Microsoft Networks Service regardless of whether I install it on top of a TCP/IP protocol, or bind the protocol to it after installing the client. (This on a 3Com Megahertz 10-100 LAN + 56K Modem Ethernet card). All machines are picking up an assigned IP address from the DHCP on a LinkSys BEFSR81 Etherfast Cable/DSL Router. File and Print Sharing comes up alright.
Any ideas? Am I missing something basic?
I’ve cross-posted this in Win98.
TIA, Mark
