I work at a system where the main database is Oracle 7 running on a vax. Till now I was able to use Access as a front end through ODBC when I was running Windows 2000. When I just upgraded my computer to Windows XP we could not get a driver that works from XP to the backend.
Any ideas or experience with this?
    Thanks

I believe that driver is normally installed with Office – were you previously running Office 2000 and now you are running Office XP/2002?

I was running office XP under Windows 2K. When I got a new computer that runs Win XP and office XP, the database administrator for the Oracle tried installing the different drivers for the ODBC and something from Oracle called SQL Net. They would not connect to the existing version of Oracle that we have. Trying to install the older ones, would not work under Win XP.
        Thanks

I’ve not had any experience in working with the drivers supplied by Oracle – we’ve always used the Microsoft Oracle drive and had no problems. How are you connecting to the Oracle tables – with ODBC drivers or with OLE DB drivers?

attached is a screen shot of what I get when I try to use the MS driver:

We connect to Oracle 8i with ODBC.

We are always having to place and replace TNSNAMES.ORA in

      ORANTNETWORKADMIN

      HTH.
