This is the first time I’ve had an optional update cause me a problem (that I’m aware of, because it is possible I have not been using a feature that was broken). I have searched this update number and nothing shows up. It appears to break the Microsoft WIFI Direct connection on my ASUS PRIME B250M-C motherboard. The way I figured out that it was this update causing the problem, was by recovering from a backup image. There is no way to uninstall an optional driver update from the GUI (according to my research after there was no uninstall option in Windows Update), but it can be done with DSIM commands. A backup restore only takes a few minutes, so rather than figure out the command line, I went that route.
I have been watching a lot of shows from my PC mirrored to my Roku TV. Miracast support is required. Mirroring is pretty much the same as having two monitors, only this one is wireless. Windows 10 Settings > System > Display > Connect to a wireless display. Once launched, a list of available devices will appear.
And it sets up a new WIFI Direct Virtual Adapter like this:
This is the optional update I was offered:
After the update, the option for the Roku TV is no longer an option:
And that is because the WIFI Direct Virtual Adapter is no longer there:
So, I am going to hide the update.
EDIT: I just realized, my Motherboard does not have any wireless connections at all. It is a USB Realtek RTL8811AU Wireless LAN 802.11ac USB 2.0 Network Adapter. My bad.
ETA: And, I also just realized I could have rolled back the driver in the device manager:
