I wonder if the Epic Privacy Browser does what it’s site says it can do.
If from Google Chrome, Does it track you like Google does?
I have installed it, but really would like to know if it is too good to be true.
    Thank you for your input.

Thank You Hawk for the reference urls. The first one from Privacydusk.com answered all of my concerns. I will reinstall my saved image and do away with Epic. I though it might be too good to be true. I really trust Windows Secrets persons.

I think you may have read that article wrong. It does temporarily hold data in RAM memory, but once you close the browser, it’s pretty much gone.
To me, that’s the problem. It always runs in incognito mode.

It’s also generally a good idea to read more than one review.

Epic Browser still was running even with the browser closed.
I did not want EpicUpdate.exe running when the EPIC browser was closed. This was also true on my computer.
Quote from the last of the first url….

“Now comes the bad part, I noticed that even when I am not running the Epic privacy browser there is a process in my Task manager called EpicUpdate.exe, this takes away memory resources and it really should not be there when the browser is not open. “

I’m not surprised. Chrome is the same way. It checks for updates every hour, and you can’t turn it off. If you try it just turns its update back on.

      Personally I use PaleMoon browser.

        +++1 for PALEMOON browser –
        a fast, stable Firefox clone,
(but w/o the new, unwanted features of FF Australis).

        Love it!
Stable, secure and all my previous Firefox addons
work without a hitch in PALEMOON.

        I’m using the PM4LINUX version
        under Linux Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

Try it and tell us later…
        (Win or Linux versions):

Thank-you for this thread, I’ve been reading about Epic for a while now & wondered if anyone had experience with it. Does PaleMoon check for updates throughout the day, or can you turn it off?

PaleMoon is a version of Firefox That does not have a lot of the newer unwanted changes, at least for a lot of people. I believe Epic would not know the difference in these two browsers.

PaleMoon checks for updates when you fire it up, but they only release updates every month or two.
Yes, you can turn off checking for updates, but that’s not advisable unless you manually check for updates periodically yourself.
It’s a good idea to make sure your browser is up to date, especially concerning security issues.

Pale Moon is not a clone of anything. While it is created using Mozilla Firefox binaries, it is a different beast, a fork, of Firefox.

        Hi,

No one has mentioned the Tor Browser. How does it compare to the above mentioned & other “secure” browsers?

TOR masks your IP address by routing your connection through several different servers around the world. This gives you a semblance of anonymity by hiding your real IP address, hence hiding your real location, from the sites you visit, but your ISP can still see every where you go.
The downside to using TOR is it can drastically slow down your connection speed.
I believe it does come with NoScript pre-installed.

As far as protecting you from any malicious scripts from being installed on your computer, no – it won’t. you still have to use common sense.

Talking about transfering settings and Palemoon got me to thinking… The above link indicates that a FF backup w/Febe can be used to set up Palemoon. I will be trying this when I set up my new system.
