I wouldn’t say that too loudly Although I use FF, Opera is very good on a PC and great on a mobile.

yes used it for six months even updated to latest version. I find it much slower than either IE or FF and so many sites will not open it makes it useless.
So yes I am commenting from my own experience of trying to use it and still say it is inferior.

Have now uninstalled it as it is taking up disk space and I hardly ever use it now.

Now waiting for all the Opera fanboys to go crazy.

I don’t think that you’ll find many crazy Opera fanbois here. But really, you’ll have to look into your browsing habits if you find “…so many sites will not open…”. Or maybe your “latest version” was version 3 or 4?

Also if you find it slower than IE or FF then your PC needs looked at…

I have played with many browsers, other than IE (which I did have for a few months). I use Chrome, but mostly Firefox. I have the latest of Opera on my computer. Some of the new items were interesting, but, as before, there was always a “it will be fixed in the next version” atmosphere from the Opera team. It is fast, very fast, assuming you have Turbo turned OFF, which is also the only way to stop the hour glass as it tries to finish loading many of the sites out there. I like how it handles its Opera Mail in the browser and very cleanly. I loved it when the tabbed browsing came out, but now Firefox seems to do it better.

To be fair, I do have both browsers, plus Chrome on my computer, but I tend to use Firefox for a number of the add-on tool bars – which can slow down a browser a whole lot. I really wanted to try the UNITE feature, but one has to get their friends to download Opera – latest version – and set it up so the computers can talk to each other. I so want it to be the one, but I have been saying that for many, many years and I also always bought the paid version, thinking that the fee would speed up the refinements. Didn’t happen.

So, now I am giving Chrome a whirl. I guess I will know soon.

Anyone contemplating installing 10.50 and followups should review the posts in the Opera Desktop forum at http://my.opera.com/community/forums/forum.dml?id=26 for changes that might affect them.

Comments there have varied widely. Someone calling themselves prump said:

“Now I’ve used 10.50 some more, there are so many annoyances or bugs (hard to tell which is which sometimes) that I’m going back to 10.10.

“(Been using Opera since 2.x and this is one of the worst updates for sure.)

Someone calling them selves 1operafan, apparently badly bent out of shape by 10.51, titled his post “Opera 10.51 s..ks,I really didn’t liked,THE WORST,didn’t like the tabs interface,the big O left corner”

I have never seen the forum so nasty.

I haven’t tried it myself. I got burned badly with 9.5 and resolved never again to install a new Opera version on early release.

“Also why can’t I disable Java when I want to? It seems I can now only disable all plugins. I like having the option to selectively disable Java and JavaScript when I’m visiting new sites. I use java on a few sites where I know the people at the site but otherwise always keep java off because of the security holes it opens. Being unable easily and quickly to turn java off and on is a nogo for me.
