When I receive a pdf or any attachment in Outlook 2007, double clicking on the attachment produces the attached dialog box. There is an option “Always ask before opening this type of file” which is checked and greyed out.

How can I uncheck this box so that I am not asked this question all the time?
    Thanks.

    Windows 7 Pro (32 bit), Office 2007.

This is the UAC kicking in. There are reg entries you can make to change this, but perhaps the easiest is to run Outlook as an Administrator, open the attachment, and you should be able to uncheck the box. You’ll have to do this for each extension type you want to automatically open.

      Cheers,

Is there a similar fix for Outlook 2013 on Win 7? I tried the fix left here and did not see the option to automatically open or preview the attachment.

          thanks
