opened document and format was changed (Word 2000)

Made some changes to a 22 pg document saved them upon closing. Opened it this morning and everything is rearranged. What happen and how do I fix it? When I tried to repair the damages it changes my whole documents fonts, etc.

Did you open it the second time on a different computer from the one you created it on? Or had you changed default printers? Word will “adjust” formatting (including fonts and margins) to suit the default printer of the computer the file is opened on.

This is pretty general. I have trouble figuring out what to suggest without either a specific description of what changed, or a sample document (or even better, before and after).

Make sure Tools/Templates & add-ins/Automatically update document styles in UNchecked.
