    Hi, all, (long time…)

in Windows Explorer, I want to select and open a number of files of different types at once.
In Windows XP, you selected all the files and hit ‘ENTER’ .
In Windows 7, this only works for files of the same type.
This is quite annoying at times (*).

Our IT support said the feature is removed from Windows to ‘protect’ the users from opening many files by accident.
They said a feature request to Windows would be needed, but probably not worth the cost.

Is there no way to find a workaround (using registry/…)?

    Hasse

(*) To open a group of an xls, mdb & txt/doc file… you open the first, wait untill it’s open, return to explorer, open the second, wait untill it’s open, return to explorer, open the third.
To open a series of files grouped in pairs of a doc & xls file (case1.doc, case1.xls, case2.doc, case2.xls,…), you’re best off sorting them in explorer per type, opening one series… waiting… returning… opening the other series… returning… and restoring regular sorting order. (Or: picking them manually out of the list, type per type)

p.s. The problem apparently occurs since Windows Vista.
