Open Docs at 85% (Word2000/NT4-SP6)

Note of explanation: Our law firm merged about a year ago and recently we finally got everyone on the same image (for some of the firm we removed Novell client and everyone is now Winnt login). One of our users claims that he used to be able to open attachments from his e-mail and they always opened at 85%. Since we have changed the image for the firm now his documents open at whatever % they were saved at (it’s always been that way for the rest of us). Save at 110% – it opens that way. He claims that he never had this happen previously. Our normal dot has a view of 85% so if you create a new document, save it, opens at 85%.

I’ve been playing around with settings in the registry (on my own pc of course!) to create a new DWORD value but I’m obviously not using the correct ‘language’. Can anyone out there help? TIA

With the desktop image change, did you change the resolution of the desktop from 800X600 to 1024×768?

These percentages sound awfully close to what I get when the document is saved as “Page Width”.

At 800×600 I get 88% (unless I have a toolbar down one side) and at 1024X768 I get 114% (109-111% depending on the toolbar I have down the side).

That just may be the difference.

Thanks for the reply and yes, it may well have changed the resolution. I’ll be having a look at that first thing tomorrow and will post back.

Thanks Brian, I changed the desktop image to various and it did not help. I also changed the view (Tools, Options, View) – wrap to window but no luck. I’m stumped.

I didn’t mean the image on the desktop. I meant the resolution of the desktop (Right Click the desktop, Select Properties, Switch to the Settings Tab and switch the screen area down to 800 X 600 pixels)

[/indent] I took that to mean you used something like Ghost or Drive Image to create a base image of your desktops. That was the Image I was referring to.

Try changing the resolution, like I outlined above.

Yes – that’s what I changed – the desktop resolution. It did not make a difference. But thanks anyway.
