It looks like O&O shutup10 functions like a tweaker program that makes registry changes. Only there is no SAVE button. So I assume it makes changes in real time as each switch is toggled.
The only help for individual switches is the pop-up displayed by left clicking each entry.
The help available from the toolbar explains how to interpret the switch colors and what the group changes will do.
As far as I can tell so far, any changes will remain after the program exits and there is no need to run this program after each reboot.
It has an export function to save the settings so they can be restored after a system upgrade from Microsoft.
If these observations are not correct, please post back with what I missed.
It looks like O&O shutup10 functions like a tweaker program that makes registry changes. Only there is no SAVE button. So I assume it makes changes in real time as each switch is toggled.
It makes the registry changes in real time but many settings (i.e. those which write to the ‘machine’ hive [‘system wide’]) only take effect after the registry is read from scratch again. As a result you need to reboot unless the changes you make only affect the current logged-on user (as changes to the ‘user’ hive [‘per user’] are usually dynamic).
As far as I can tell so far, any changes will remain after the program exits and there is no need to run this program after each reboot.
That’s right. The changes will persist until changed again, whether by further use of ShutUp 10 (or other registry tweakers) or by Microsoft showing its usual disregard for your preferences.

Thank you for this thread. I’d yesterday started experimenting with this program and found…
I’d prefer a tool which remembers its persistent settings, and
which has a design philosophy which aggregates decisions for me
and this tool is astoundingly granular – I don’t know enough about Win 10’s telemetries to know what I’ll break when I make changes, and I’d prefer a publisher which automates that for me.

ShutUp 1410 added numerous options .. and 1412 even more. This excellent tool is getting a bit too granular for my taste .. maybe because of W10-2004 (dunno).
It would be helpful to know which version of ShutUp is best for a particular W10 version, e.g., best for 1809, 1903, 1909 and 2004. Anyone?
