Online tutorial?

Hi. Is there some kind of an online tutorial for Access or a resource more “user friendly” than the Access help section? I’m finding it rather deep and full of new terms. I have installed the Northwest Traders database but this is more database than I need! To tell you the truth, I miss Lotus Approach. I had that but my machine and backup system was stolen. Such is life! Thanks. Russ

Lotus Approach is a very simple database that lacks the power and complexity of Access. There are a number of good beginning Access books that will help you learn the basics, like MS Access Step-by-Step, and check into the
“Mastering” series, which is CBT available from Microsoft OnLine at http://mspress.microsoft.com/prod/books/3605.htm%5B/url%5D. There is also http://www.free-ed.net/fr03/lfc/course 030101_02/index.html[/url], which is on-line training in Access.

If you want an excellent book that will teach you Access step by step then pick up the Shelly Cashman Series book titled Microsoft Access 2000 Comprehensive Concepts and Techniques. The ISBN# is 0-7895-5610-3. It is a Microsoft approved courseware book so check out used academic bookstores for a copy.

Hi Charlotte,

Lotus Approach isn’t even a database. It is really just a front end to either Paradox or DBase tables. I wouldn’t use Lotus Approach if it became the only program left on the planet.

No, I started with Alpha Four ver2 through ver6. I still use a book called Using Functions and Expressions by Jeffrey S. Benson. The examples can be made to work in VBA quite easily.
