I have both business and personal OneDrive accounts (two separate emails and logins), and in the past both have worked fine on all my computers (business desktop, business laptop, home, iPad, iPhone, etc.).  Problem is for the last several days my business desktop personal account will not load when attempting to access through the OneDrive app.

I do see and can access the files through word, excel, etc., but the app fails to load.

All the other computers and Apple devices still work.

I’ve done that, along with a number of other things with our IT consultant.  So far, no luck!

      What is your PC? NTB/desktop?
Is your PC domain joined? Often domain computers are managed by administrator thus having blocked some service, port, …

First I would try it on another network. For example if you are connected to your domain network, try to create hot-spot on your mobile phone for your laptop. then try to connect to one drive on an independent network.
As you describe it, it looks like PC related issue, if other devces work. But you never know, its easy to try.

It is a Dell OptiPlex 7050 and is on a small domain.  However, my laptop on the same domain works fine as did this desktop up until a few weeks ago.  Our IT consultant has spent about an hour or so with me on the machine but no luck.

Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office, as well as unlinking and relinking OneDrive.

OneDrive business still works fine, but not the personal folder.

The personal OneDrive files are accessible on this machine through word or excel, but just not the app.

I too feel it is isolated to the PC…

Since your IT consultant spent a lot of time on this, its hard to give an advice.. If your account works on other PCs, looks like PC issue.
Have you checked CredentialVault for outdated stored login credentials?
Check it, if there are no outdated usernames and passwords for your OneDrive.

I suppose your personal account works OK on other devices?
It seems like time for full backup. Then upgrade to the latest build. Best would be to preserve only user data and try to “owerwrite” prevoius malfunctioning installation.

Yes, we did delete all cached credentials.

By more than decade of my experience, some issues are jsut not repairable (in Windows).
No matter how hard you try, they just wont go away. Its better to start with fresh installation, dont waste your time.
Create bootable USB stick with Rufus
Download latest Windows ISO with heidoc.net tool

Then launch installation from within Windows and select to preserve ONLY user data. No applications or settings. Then you should be able to set make it work again.
Dunno how much payed/licensed programs you have, but this is worth doing if it bothers you. You will have to reinstall programs again. But you will have the latest Windows so youll be safe for next half year or so 😉

Is this suitable solution for you?

One person in similar circumstances had to use

      %SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\OneDriveSetup.exe

to kickstart their OneDrive personal app (see second reply):

OneDrive personal and business – can they exist in the same laptop

I have tried that as well, but no help!

It only gets to the “Loading” screen but never goes past that.  The grey “personal” OneDrive icon shows a slash through it, says it is not signed in.

      Hi,

You managed to resolved the issue? Im having the same.

    • #2399724

I found the issue after a lot of tries. It is a problem with one update in Windows. Remove KB5005565 and reboot and you will be set.  You can send me a coffee later.

If the issue occurs after the October updates as well, that’s not a long term fix due to the cumulative update model.
