OneDrive changes Small Caps to ALL CAPS in Word docs

I sometimes use Bluebook legal citation format, which calls for small caps in certain references. I recognize that Word’s font » small caps option does not produce true small caps, but setting that point aside, here’s what has perplexed me.

When I save Word docs to OneDrive and then access the document in a subsequent writing session, small caps have become ALL CAPS.

I assume this is a OneDrive problem, but I’m not sure. I’m using these versions on a PC using Win 10, which I update according to the advice I read here. :0)

• Word for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2203 Build 16.0.15028.20152) 64-bit
• Premium OneDrive Version 2022 (Build 22.055.0313.0001) (64-bit)

If anyone happens to know how to fix this problem, I will sing your praises to the typographical gods.

Not sure if this will solve the problem but try setting Word options to Embed fonts in the file.

File -> Options -> Save -> Preserve fidelity when sharing this document -> Check: Embed fonts in the file.
