Good morn, Ted. Looking at that link and a bit down in it, it mentioned how to turn OFF Adobe Flash. Would you kindly tell me what it does and why it is a good idea to turn it OFF, I have, but a curious mind would like to know. Yes, my mind ! :o:

NB: This is : Shockwave Flash Object. Jean.

Don’t know JP. I have not turned off Flash n my PCs. I do not by any stretch of the imagination use all these tips, just some of them. Heck I have not even read all them. It’s just a great source of tips and tricks.

This may seem trivial, but I have searched all over the web looking for info on how to remove the screen background that comes up after the windows-8 rotating symbol and the log-in screen. On my system (Win8 Enterprise) it is a background of Seattle, and I want to use something else, or even a solid background. I am calling this the splash screen, but have seen other things called that, so I’m not sure what it is called, nor how to change it. If I even knew what it was called (filename), I could search and replace it, but don’t seem to be able to find that… HELP! Thanx in advance. Have a great Xmas and Happy New Year.

This is the Windows Lock screen. Easy as pie!

Charms Bar, Settings, Change PC Settings, on the Personalize Tab.

This is what mine looks like:

      32666-LockScreenPersonalization

Use the Browse Button to choose the picture of choice. You might have to crop the picture a little to fit your screen correctly.

You can also change your Start Screen and Account Picture here among other things.

Ted, sorry to bother you. I looked all over this site but could not find it and I also forgot. How to get W-8 booted to safe mode ? Thanks a mega. Jean.
