I’ve been an MS365/One Drive user for long time.  Today, I  opened One Drive on my iPad and must have hit “Photos” bc that is where it went.  I never use that option.  I didn’t know how to get back to my files!!!!!   : o Crazy, right? Something so simple.

Google to the rescue!  Simply go to the top of the page and choose “Files”

Which I did, but now my view is totally changed and I want the old one back! How can I do that?  See attached photos, one from Techrepublic showing the view I want with the controls at the bottom and the other from my Onedrive (with the controls at the top).

Sometimes, things just seem to go totally haywire with technology that I’ve comfortably used forever and something happens I think should be a non-issue and I get totally lost. This is one of those times. Thanks! Donna

My guess is the Techrepublic article is more than three years old and therefore out of date.

True, but the info they provided was correct, I got back to my documents by choosing “Files” at the top of the page.  I had the view they show in the screenshot prior to going into Photos. Now I have the other view.

Did MS change OneDrive iPadOS with the last update?  Not only is my view totally different, but now I can’t drag and drop files ; (

I use split view on the iPad to move files from OneDrive to iCloud files. Now when I tap to move, it brings up “Select”   The workaround (I found) is more steps (Share, Send File, Save to Files).

Ugh. I’m really confused.  From my perspective, I tapped the OneDrive “Photo” view by accident and now everything is different.  I see the last OneDrive update on 1/27 but nothing changed until I went into Photos.

What are your version numbers for iPadOS and for the OneDrive app?

        • #2744869

iPad 18.3     OneDrive 16.3.5 (the update says “Bug fixes and stability improvements”)

And I checked OneDrive settings to see if there is a “Legacy” or other option for the version, like there is on my Mac for Outlook. There is not, that I saw.

Isn’t it Touch and Hold to reach the menu for Move, rather than Tap?

To move files in the OneDrive app (version 16.3.5) on iPadOS 18.3, follow these steps:

Open the OneDrive app on your iPad.

Navigate to the file or folder you want to move.

Touch and hold the file or folder until a menu appears.

        Tap “Move” from the menu.

Choose the destination folder where you want to move the file or folder.

Tap “Copy” to move the file or folder to the selected destination.

This is what I was doing:  Open OneDrive files. Tap the 3 bars at the top of the iPad screen – Split View.  One Drive moves to left side.  Open iCloud files.   OneDrive is on the left half of screen; iCloud files is on the right half of iPad screen.  Touch and hold OneDrive file, slide over to iCould Files.

Now when I touch and hold the OneDrive file, it brings up the “Select” button and I cannot drag/drop to iCloud files and there are controls at the bottom, one of which is “Move.”

The “Move” function you outlined will only allow me to move the file within OneDrive App.
