I recently noticed a hidden folder on my C:\ drive. Folder is named OneDriveTemp. It contains a single folder, with a single file named “{A73A9163-4108-437A-B1BD-C2AC7CF96B7E}.vhdx”. Any attempt to examine the properties of this file is blocked with a message advising”You must have Read permissions to view the properties of this object”.

It appears that it is a Hard Disk Image File (.vhdx) that is locked by BitLocker. BitLocker is not available on my machine as it is Windows 11 Home Edition and I do not remember creating any Hard Disc image. The file was created 07/02/2024, but I have no idea how. It currently measures 151mb.

Should I just leave it or can it be deleted?

    Edition: Windows 11

    Version: 23H2

    OS Build: 22631.3085

It seems BL creates a virtual disk as part of its caching.

BitLocker is available on W11 Home, contrary to earlier MS statements. See the BL thread.

So would the advice be to leave it? It doesn’t seem to be causing any issues and it does not take up any space. I ran “manage-bde -status” from an admin status in Power Shell, and it came back on all drives as:
      Conversion Status: Fully Decrypted
      Protection Status: Protection Off
      Lock Status: Unlocked
      Key Protectors: None Found

As long as you need OneDrive I would leave it, but keep an eye on it.

      cheers, Paul
