• On Windows 10 1909, Just Offered 20H2 in WU

I’m still on Windows 10 1909 due to my LG Gram have the Conexant audio driver (not ISST I believe). This morning I see in Windows Update that I’ve been offered 20H2. I’ve done nothing on my computer (fiddling with audio drivers) and don’t see any information online on why I’ve been offered the update since Microsoft Release Health Dashboard is still in a Confirmed state with the last update on 1/5/2021.

So I’m hesitant to move forward with this update until I see something on Microsoft’s Health Dashboard or some information from others that are in a similar situation as me and they attempted the update and was successful.

Thank you for very much for any help!

Microsoft has already published a “workaround” for the Conexant audio driver problem.
Run the OS upgrade. If it fails and revert to previous version run the upgrade again.

Take a full image backup of your PC prior to upgrading.
If you don’t want Feb.2021 updates set network to metered or on Pro set GP ‘notify don’t download’ = 2
After the upgrade go over ALL your settings.

That’s not the greatest workaround in my book. ๐Ÿ™‚

I thought that the workaround is for the ISST drivers? I don’t have the ISST drivers and the Health Dashboard hasn’t been updated – currently it still states “Microsoft and Synaptics are working on a resolution for safeguard IDs 25702617 and 25702660, and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

How do I know the “upcoming release” occurred? The above statement was made on 1/5/2021 and over a month later I now can install through WU seems a bit weird. Is there a way to determine the safeguards my computer was under?

        Thank you!

If you are being offered it, that means that the safeguard is deemed no longer needed.

Thank you Susan. I will probably attempt the update then and hopefully no workaround is needed. I’ll report back what happens.

Update: 20H2 installed successfully without taking any actions with my Conexant audio drivers. I don’t appear to have any audio issues either.

Your lucky, I’m on Win 10 1909 and have not been offered 2004 neither 20H2.
