GuestSeptember 29, 2016 at 10:35 am #33585Like you, Woody, I too rarely discuss politics except with very close friends.
However, in this digital age of virtually instant communication accompanied by virtually zero control over who anonymously promulgates what kind of nonsense, an exponentially growing amount of what you so correctly have named threatens to drown us.
Thank you for doing this “fact check” – we need more of this (and it needs to be more widely disseminated) from reputable sources such as yourself. I encourage you to continue such posts as seems appropriate.

GuestSeptember 29, 2016 at 11:52 am #33586Sorry Woody, but I wholeheartedly disagree with you on this one. Giving away ownership of anything to an outside controlling authority is never a good idea. There’s absolutely no good reason for America to be doing this. Here’s a great video by Stefan Molyneux that lays it all out pretty clearly.

I like the delivery, but I think Molyneux is wrong.
Good discussions here:

It really is a technical question.

GuestSeptember 30, 2016 at 11:57 am #33595Woody, I don’t fault you for giving your thoughts on this type of question.
The problem is, on a subject like this, it’s really hard to avoid the political aspect of the question.
It is probably safer to leave these types of questions to Facebook, where everyone can (and does) rant, and where you can find real answers to your questions!

GuestSeptember 30, 2016 at 8:11 pm #33597Exactly, I wouldn’t fault Woody – he wasn’t being “political”, he was just mentioning an important piece of information/news from his general subject area (technology/computing).
It’s unfortunate that there are some topics that can’t be broached any more because they’ve become hot-button issues or adopted and re-defined by various groups.
On one’s own “dern” blog, one can have an opinion and share news. Maybe turning off the reader comments under such blogposts would be a way to avoid political to-and-fro.
