We have one user who still sees 4 very old reminders (from 2001) in his reminder window. When you try to delete them you get a message that says they can’t be deleted and if you try and find the appts. these reminders reference they too have been deleted. Since this user has a Good Link, it was suggested that we reset and possibly rebuild it. We’ve done that and still have not been successful in clearing out these old reminders.

In addition to the Good Link, we’ve also done the following:

    1. Ran the /CleanReminders, /CleanViews, /CleanFreeBusy, etc. switches too many times to count
    2. Deleted his Outlook profile and re-added it
    3. Deleted his .ost file, created a new one and compacted it

Searches on the Internet and various other forums refer to these steps and they’ve worked in those cases. Does anyone have anything else we can try or that we might be missing?

You’ve hit about all the bases.

Did you try a Table View such as Active Appointments to find the old Appointments? It sometimes works for me to delete them from one of those Views.

Have you ‘disconnected’ the users’ PST (by moving it from it’s usual location) to see if the Reminders are corrupted items on the Server?

        Hi JohnBF

We tried the table view….no luck.

#2 is something that interests us. We really feel that’s where the problem lies since everytime we do all the things mentioned in my earlier post, they appear to work until we close Outlook and reopen. Do you happen to know if the reminders are stored in a file? What file is it? Where is it located, in a .pst or someplace else??

Thanks for the suggestion….I’ll let you know if it works.

I’m getting out of my depth because I don’t know the Exchange Server side of things. You could kick the problem back to your Exchange Server folks and ask them to look through the MS Exchange 5.5 Troubleshooting page, which discusses server mailbox diagnostic information. You could have Exchange Server Admin delete the users server mailbox and recreate it, which I don’t know enough about to provide specific advice on.
