On my desktop I have all my office templates in a folder which is a tab on the New Office Document window which opens when I click on New Office document. I have upgraded my laptop to Windows XP Pro and reinstalled Office 2000. For some reason I can not seem to replicate the same process that I have on my desktop on my new laptop. I have placed my template folder both as a subfolder of the MS Office/Templates folder and as a subfolder of MS Office/Template/1033 (where all the MS templates seem to be) but still I can not get my template folder to appear as a tab on the New Office Document window.

      Hi Jim:
I’m not familiar with XP, but make sure under Tools/Options/File Locations that user templates are pointing to the location where your folder exists.

If this doesn’t work, could you be more specific? What is the name of your folder (both on the desktop computer & the laptop)? What full path have you placed the folder? Where does your user path point to on both machines? Did you install the laptop as “run all from my computer”?

Thanks, I looked in file locations for templates, copied my template folder to the Template folder (Doc&SetUsernameApp DataMicrosoftTemplates) and it worked. I was trying to copy my folder to the Template folder in the Program Files path, which did not work.
