Office Genuine Prevents Opening of Mail

I allowed the office genuine to install, and it was happy. Some time later I cannot open outlook items , get
Cannot open this item. The text formatting command is not available. It may not be installed correctly. Install MS office outlook again.
It was caused by a bad addon according to MS.Guess what it was office genuine, popped up, but it kinds of hides so you cannot close outlook, replied to it and I can open again.
BTW I am legal. So just thought I would warn you. Oh, and you can’t get rid of the office genuine as it will not uninstall.

You message is written too vaguely for Loungers to help. What version of Outlook are you using? What addon did MS tell you is bad? Have you tried detect and repair (depending on your version)? Have you looked at your addons and tried disabling them one by one? Have you tried a reinstall of Outlook? Have you tried a reinstall of Internet Explorer? (Yes, IE may cause this problem.) Are your talking about the MS Office Genuine Advantage Tool? I have not had problems with it interfering with any installed MS product, though it’s certainly a nuisance. Have you gone to MS and updated the OGA tool?

We found that this error message appears to be related to Internet Explorer security settings.

We are able to open email messages that are sent in Rich Text format, but when attempting to open HTML emails, or opening new messages with default format set to HTML, we get the error message

”Can’t open this item. The text formatting command is not available. It may not be installed correctly. Please install Outlook again.”

We were able to fix the problem by rolling back the most recent Internet Explorer update.

I hope this helps! Hopefully Microsoft will figure out how to change security settings in Internet Explorer without wrecking Outlook.
