Is there a way to disable Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and eventually any other Office app integration?
I’d rather IE just downloaded the file for me to look at it later.

    Thank you.

For each of the Applications, if you look under their file extensions in Control Panel|Folder Options|File Types|Advanced, you will probably find that the boc “Confirm open after download” is checked. Unchecking this box should disable any future automatic opening by IE. If you carry out future Service Pack installations, reinstalls or Detect and Repairs, you may wish to check that this setting hasn’t been “helpfully” re-enabled for you. HTH

        Thanks so much, unkamunka.

Anyway, I had those boxes unchecked, and I had to check them for things to work. There’s another box “Explore in same Window” which makes IE call Word to open the document on its own instead of sucking Word in and then having it open the document while clogging the entire system. But still I prefer to download first, open later.

This is one of those things I wanted to do so badly for so long, but I never had time to even realize I did grin
