Back on Feb 28, I exported my calender to an ICS file using Outlook and emailed it to my wife so that she could have a copy of my calendar. Everything worked perfectly until the next time I accessed my calendar. Almost all of my calendar entries from March 1 to the end of the year had disappeared and those that remained moved into a specific date by category (all blue, all red, etc) and it appeared that the date was the first time I had used that specific category in March.
I tried to access different version of my backup PST file the but the result was the same nothing showed up. I ran the repair program that comes with Office but that didn’t solve anything either.
I even went a far as using an PST file from last year to see if that had anything but still the same result.
I finally ended up uninstalling Office 365 Home, clear out any file and register entry (backing everything up of course) and then reinstalling Office. When I set up Outlook again, with my current PST file, I still got the same results. And I still can’t add calendar entries. They just don’t post and sort of disappear when I hit ENTER!
So, now I have taken to creating a new PST file from scratch and carefully import all my important emails from my previous and obviously corrupted PST file but having to re-enter every calendar entry from scratch.
I am retired and so the complete restoration should only take a couple days . . .
I would just like to find out how this might have happened and use this post as a warning to others.
