Having installed Office and then SR-1 as administrator, when another user logs on and tries to click on a Word document in Explorer, the Office SR-1 installer starts and then fails, reporting that it cannot find the source code. Re-running SR-1 for the user gets the message that it is already installed. Word/Excel can be opened and documents opened from there, and I have no problems when logged on as administrator.

    Can anyone help?

Check to see if the “Short cuts” are listed under “All Users”.

When installing software, be sure to accept “All users” when asked, even if it is a single user machine. I know that MS Office has asked every time I have installed a copy in Windows XP and 2K.

Also, did you start any odf the office products before selecting a file from within Windows Explorer? If you did NOT, then the Office prosucts had NOT been setup for that account. This MUST be done in order the completion of the installation. You will find all of the Office items listed under “Documents and Settings” that pertain to Office will not be there until one opens one or mre of the programs. I would suggest that you open ALL of these programs for each new account.

Thanks. cheers I tried logging in as another user with administrator priveleges and found the SR-1 installer starting as before, but this time it asked for the O2K disk and was able to complete installation once it was inserted. Changing the user settings for the other accounts seemed to do the trick, but I will bear your tips in mind, should I run into any further problems.
