I ran Office 2007 for years. A few months ago I installed Office/Outlook 2013. I REALLY do not like it, and I’d rather have Office 2007 again. I just re-installed Win7 on that laptop and I decided to “upgrade” to 2007. I have my original installers for Office 2007, but not for Outlook 2007.

The Digital River site is gone, and I can’t find an installer anywhere. Is there ANYwhere I can get a safe Outlook 2007 installer? Does any trusted Lounger have one they would be willing to share?

Would it work to run Outlook 2013 alongside Office 2007?

Should work.

I do. 🙂 Have for 8 years or so. I had to use Outlook email for a particular client. I’m not working with that client any more but I’m used to using the Outlook calendar.

Have a look at the “Lightning” add-on for Thunderbird.

In Thunderbird go to “Tools/Add-ons”, or https://services.addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/discovery/addon/lightning/

Coochin, I installed Lightning. With some digging I found the instructions to hook up to my Google calendar. The help wasn’t accurate and it took some experimentation to find my way through it, but I’ve got it hooked up to my Google calendar now.

I can see one immediate problem: it doesn’t support the color-coding of tasks that Outlook provided, and that I rely on heavily. I don’t know if Google calendaring supports it at all, but my Google calendar connection never *lost* the color-coding before. I suppose it may have been stored locally in Outlook and just never got sent across the wire to Google & thus to my phone & ipad.

Do you know if there’s a way to regain that color-coding feature in Lightning? I found the Category property in tasks, which is close, but it puts a barely-visible colored section on the task object. And of course it doesn’t inherit the categories I defined in Outlook (and which I realize Google may not have stored). Any suggestions to make it more visible, and possibly to understand the same categories I defined in Outlook?

Tried that already, Tony. It just redirects you to the Microsoft download site, which no longer has Outlook 2007.

Ah yes, I should’ve realised that. The only thing I can suggest is beg, steal or borrow an installation disk (or make a copy of one), and install from that. Using your own product code of course.

When you create a calendar in Lightning, you can assign a colour to it. The command appears in the properties just after you’ve entered the address of your Google calendar.

When you create a task in Lightning, and assign a due date, it appears in the calendar. It takes the colour of the calendar it’s assigned to; so, if the calendar colour is red, it appears in red.

That only applies to its appearance in the calendar, not in the task list.

Yes, but since ALL my tasks/events come from one calendar (Google), that doesn’t help me much. I want to choose colors on a task-by-task basis.

Take a look at these two views of the same month. You can see that the Outlook view gives me much better visual indication of what’s happening when, what type of events they are, what’s important (red), which are multi-day events, etc.

I think Outlook is a better answer for me, even if I have to use Outlook 2013. Bummer I have to use a clunky add-on to connect it to Google, but ohwell. EDIT: Hmm, it looks like Google is supporting Google Outlook Calendar Sync again?? That would be much better…
