Where has MS hidden the Office Web Components? The docs say “if you install Office 2003, you’ll get them.” The docs also say that the components can be supplied via developers. If my client obtains a license, they get interactivity; if not, they just get to view the data.

I’m interested in the latter: I want to tell them where to d/l the Web components, or provide them on a CD.

BTW, there are a few bugs/quirks in v2003 beta 2, but so far no show stoppers.

When a page is opened, it should be under the “Insert” menu. That is where I have mine anyway.

ah – that is to insert a FP component into a page.

Unfortunately, I should have said ‘run-time components’, which are DLLs that surfers need to have on their browsing machines, rather than design time components that developers have on their development machines.

Peter, it’s possible that the beta is not complete, or that the install is not complete. If you comb through the Office 2003 CD, do you find any appropriate looking folders?

That was my original question, sort of ~ what do these things look like?

I have them on my machine somewhere, because everything “works”. On another machine, that doesnt have the beta, neither the Calendar nor the Office Chart display in the browser. i havent been able to find any instructions on how to distribute them, either. In the last Office iteration, MS said the Office components are only available to licensees. The language has changed, however; it now says (approximately) “licensees may use the components to manipulate the data. Nonlicensees may only view the data.” The latter is what i want.
