SP1 for Office2003 is out for some time now, so I guess quite a few loungers have worked with it. I’m asked to make an “impact analyses” for the roll out to our 1000+ desktops and laptops, which are on a mainly-Novell / partly-Windows network. Are there any reasons not to apply SP1? Your findings and advice are more than welcome! Thanks.

We’ve been using it for several months, and haven’t encountered any significant problems. If your users are running Access databases, there are some significant fixes that should improve their experience. The original version of Access 2003 had a tendency to crash more often than it should have, and that seems to have been fixed.

IMHO For Access 2003, SP1 is a MUST. Any continuous forms with conditional formatting and calculated fields do not work properly or at all. I believe there was a significant Excel bug which was fixed as well.

I applied it to my installations of Office 2003 Pro as soon as it was released and I’ve found no negative effects whatsoever.

Install it you will not feel a thing. I have installed it on about 10 different machines and have had no problems,

In addition to the other information you’ve received, I’ll add that this is a critical patch for PowerPoint 2003 as well. It resolves a number of issues in PPT 2003.
