Does anyone know when Microsoft is planning to release Office 2003? I am interested in the Student/Educator version and am not sure if I should by the XP version now or wait for 2003. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks.

Hi Ronald–
They are releasing to manufacture on Friday August 15, which is tomorrow in my neck of the woods. I would expect to see offers now for OEM versions, but whether that includes the student version yet I don’t know. It’s going to be a while before it shows up in stores, and I am sure there will be announements in all the cyber news outlets very soon. The prices in the UK look pretty high to me. I don’t have any US Prices yet.
I put some info on this thread:

Doesn’t sound fair, seriously, and I bet that once it’s circulating given the sites like Pricegrabber, Pricewatch and an awful lot of the huge number of others who sell Office, it’s going to be lower still John. I’m not an astute student of all the dynamics, but I think they were obviously sensitive to the outcry when all these licensing revisions/restrictions and rules began to be laid down in the past fiscal year for MS which is Oct-Oct–also that not as many people migrated to Office XP as they had hoped–and I don’t know the numbers but the biggest percent were using 2000 I’m sure because of the space between and differences in Office 97. Now there’s only about the same amount of space between Office XP and 2003.

Office 2003 went live for volume users this morning September 15, 2003
OEM’s shipping will follow and you’ll have to wait until the release in October around the launch date that begins October 21 to get a single student edition in a bricks and mortar or on the web. I’m sure universities that were able to buy in volume got some today.
