Hello again, Colleagues All,
Years ago, I bought a second-hand PC previouslyly owned by a chap who was mainly interested in electronics and music and so on. The C:Drive was fairly congested with all of the software he had installed and which I thought I might keep as I was sort-of interested in that field. I moved a lot of stuff out onto a second drive, but I never had enough space for a proper defrag. Eventually, I moved one file to many and totally lost my desktop !. This was a good opportunity to do a reformat and reinstall of XP. When I did so, I got a repeating error with a message saying that I needed to insert a disk into a drive which i could not identify. I enventually identified something associated with Windows Messenger, but could have been malware, so I removed the lot. Now my system works OK, though I must wait till after the weekend to re-register my anti-virus. Meanwhile, I have found a curious entry in the Startup list in msconfig which I cannot identify. I have Googled it but several pages of results merely resulted in its appearance in printouts of logs by people investigating other problems. I have bored you to death with the circumstances which led up to my current request, but I thought they may be relevant. Now, can anyone tell me what E_S99 is ?
