Obihai is ending support for its voip device
I have a google voice number and use an obihai device to access the voip. It occasionally requires a reset that I accessed through the obihai portal, which will no longer be available at the end of October 2024. What options do I have to continue to use voip and my g-voice number?

It seems Google want you to use it via your PC as there is a dearth of hardware.

The HP page suggests a VOIP service will work.

8×8, Aveno, Dialpad, Microsoft, OneSuite, OnSIP, RingCentral, Zoom and many others offering single and multi-line SIP registrations

Or port your numbers to another provider…

      cheers, Paul

Actually, it’s the Obitalk service (which simply provided an on-line management portal for Obihai devices) that’s being shutdown.

Obihai devices will still continue to work but must now be managed via the local device I/F since the on-line portal will no longer be available.

Note: The HP site “misspells” the Aveno VoIP service name, it’s actually Anveo, and I’ve been using my Obi200 with their “Just Right!” package for 5 years and haven’t experienced any problems (other than occasionally needing to reboot my Obi200 using the local device I/F.)

Here’s their How to port your Google Voice number to Anveo guide and their Exclusive Service Offer for OBiTALK Users pricing.

BTW, according to the HP page…

Once configured, the OBiTALK Service was ‘out of band’ from the device working with Google. It is anticipated that most devices will just continue to work for some period. At some point in the future, due to the expiration of security certificates, the integration will stop working, and there will no longer be a means of onboarding your device to the service.

So your Google Voice number probably won’t immediately stop working when Obitalk shuts down on Nov 1st.
