Number Documents Consecutively

I’ve created a template for service invoices that needs to produce docs that are numbered consecutively- 001 for the first, 002 for the next, etc.

Seems like this shouldn’t be too hard, but I haven’t found the answer. I’ve dug around in the help- fields topics- to no avail. Macro territory perhaps? Any ideas would be appreciated.
