I am using Ntbackup.exe to backup my files to an external hard drive. I am trying to locate a way to delete the earliest backups from the drive. (I already have a month’s backup sets). Thank you for your help.

Have you tried Windows Explorer? Or do you mean a more automated way?

yes, but explorer does not list the individual backups on the F: drive. They are only listed from within the software

I always go into the third tab from the left (something to do with Tape Management? It’s at work!) and Free whichever tape has just been inserted. But the whole thing is a fair mystery to me…

Thanks for your response, but I am using an external drive for a backup destination. Therefore, there is no tape tab.

In Windows Explorer Tools | Folder Options | View is ‘show hidden files and folders’ selected? How about ‘hide protected operating system files’? If you already changed them, did you ‘push’ ‘Apply to All Folders’?
