Why, if I have a domain set as a safe sender, would it keep ending up in Junk?

Are you sure that you have the CORRECT domain listed and you must have the “@” before the domain name?
Dave, since this isn’t the only one or time this has happened recently (all added through the “Not Junk” contet menu), is some type of corruption to the file what file?) possible?

Chuck

Are you on a Microsoft Exchange account? According to This Site if you’re on Exchange, it must be Server 2003. You could check that.

1.) What version of Outlook?
2.) What service pack is installed?
3.) All other Outlook patches installed?
4.) Have you checked to make sure the domain is not in the allowed & blocked senders?
5.) What are your junk e-mail settings?
6.) What kind of account – pop3, imap, exchange?

Joe:
1) It’s Outlook 2007 (v12.0.6501.5000) with SP-2 (12.0.6425.1000);
Everything available through Microsoft Update is installed.
The domain is only in the Safe Senders.
Settings are set to “Safe Lists Only”, and “Add Contacts” and Add People I send to” to Safe Lists;
It’s a pop account.
Thanks,
Chuck

Remember that some words in the subject will send any email to the junk folders.
Then if you have someone blocked and their domain is listed as safe, they may or may not get through depending which is read first, the safe list or the blocked list.
Check your “Blocked” list to see if the listed address is included, if so remove it from the blocked list.

Dave, I have mine set to “Safe Lists and I hve over time been able to include most all of the needed addresses.
That being the case, and these addresses being on the Safe Lsit (as domains, not individual addresses), shouldn’t they always get through?

That depends on how Microsoft implemented the whole junk filter. If it still checks the blocked list and the block list is checked before the safe list then it could still be blocked. YES, I know what the wording says but I’m talking about how it is actually coded. We don’t know that and Microsoft is not going to tell us.

So/But, if they are NOT on the Blocked List, they should get through, yes?
I’ll check it again…

OR they are being sent to the junk folder based on the content of the email, What is the subject and content like on these emails?

Dave, are you saying that even if I have an address marked as safe, if the content scanned is deemed by Outlook to be “junk” it’ll go tot he junk file anyway?
If that’s so, where do I edit what it scans for?

Chuck

‘Cause I can select “No automatic filtering”, but that will eliminate my “Safe Lists Only” selection.

According to this article the spam filtering process if turned off when the option “safe lists only” is selected. Since that is what you have set, how do you have the domain entered?

Joe, back to front: when you (I) have “Safe Lists Only” set, you still have the ability to add to your safe list; any mail you send out adds the “To:” to the list as well.
I’ll check out the page — thanks.

Outlook only automatically adds your “To:” addresses to the safe senders list if you configure it that way. By default it does NOT.

Joe, I did specifically configure it that way; I did also manually click “Add to Safe Senders”; I did verifiy that the addresses, when giving me issues, were in fact on the list.
H-m-m-m-m….
The only thing I havben’t/cannot check, is i some strange word is triggering the MS spam engine in the body, but that seems strange, as the one I noticed (and posted) is a software vendor, who sends notices, like WOPR, of posted activity.
Ah well…
Thanks,

Read the articles closely. When you configure “safe sendrs only” the spam filter does not check the email other than to see if the sender is in your list.
1.) Have you tried running Office diagnostics?
2.) Have you exported your safe senders list, then cleared it out, and just added a few back that you get a lot of mail from?
3.) Have you tried a new email profile?

Joe, #1 showed no issues. Tried #2, no items surfaced. Haven’t gone so far as #3 as yet.
As for your first paragraph, THAT makes sense, becuase in fact it’s a mode that “eveything” else I’d seen about suggested NOT doing it you would be bound to lose mail as it would only let through what’s in the Contacts list, and who you send to as well.
…It might be a Win_7 glitch, although that would certainly seem seem out of the ordinary.
When I get some time later today maybe I’ll try the “profile thing”. Can I give it all the same qualities as my current, so as not to lose any m,ail copming through? It’s just to correct a corrupted file, yes?

I doubt it is Win7. It seems to be an Outlook issue.
1.) Have you double checked to make sure the sender is not in the blocked sender list?
2.) Does your ISP do any spam filtering?
3.) Are you running any third part spam filter?
4.) Have you double checked to make sure you do not have any rules for spam setup?
You should be able to configure it the same as your current profile. You might want to export anything you think you’ll need right away.

Joe:
1) Not there that I see
2) No filtering — available (1and1.com) but I didn’t and don’t enable it
3) Nope. Used to, then I just started using Outlook’s “Safe file only” — a year ago or so.
4) Just double-checked. Rules now I only use to set categories — and there’s no Spam categoriy.
And Joe, I hadn’t changed anything in my Outlook in the last few weeks, and all of a sudden it was casting — just acouple three — senders into the Junk Email.

The “Jerks” that I referred to are the ones that send out all the crap, that we MUST have filters.
Did you NOT read my post, I said that the filters are NOT made public (by Microsoft and OTHER OEM’s) so the jerks (Spammers) do not know what words are being used to reject the email. That was the problem up front when the Junk Filters were just coming out. It was real easy as to what words worked and which did not.
There are new words are being added all the time, that is why we get new Junk filters from Microsoft about each month!
You have install all of the current Office updates?
What version of Outlook are you having this issue with?
I like sending my self email when testing settings in my email programs, I use to use “Just Testing” as a subject, and now it gets sent to the junk folder.

Dave:
Yes, I read your post, but I obviously misunderstood. I’m using 2007 with yes, all uodates.
I don’t however, understand this filtering: so if I say “Anything Dave wants to send me is OK” MS is sitting back there saying “Well, we know better than you what you REALLY want to receive, so…”?
THAT would seem to be STUPID. Also non-productive. Didn’t there used to be a text file that contained the mail filters? One that MS would update regularly, but that could be edited?
The upshot here is that I’me getting mail from software support that is ending up in the junk folder. Ive double-checked and they are on rthe safe list, and I have no blocked list — except that anyting NOT on the safe list is blocked. And yet it is ending up blocked.

There is NO setting for you select “Any thing to be sent”, your choice is to accept email coming from a address or domain, but the CONTENT must meet their requirements of the spam filters.

JP Software Forums [neil@jpsoft.com] for one. I’ve added that to my safe list at least three times. JPSoft are the makers of “Take Cmmand” software. That is a reply from their support board.
And if “CONTENT must meet their requirements of the spam filters” then they are in fact monitoring and, what, chaperoning my email?
Chuck
Chuck Billow
Also note, that some Domains have been banned as spam sources, with these the email is normally blocked at the ISP level not at the Junk filter level.
Dave, a couple of things:
If by “blocvked at the ISP level” you mean it wouldn’t even reach OUtlook, no that’s not it.
And I cannot stress enough how absurd it is to at least not have a “total user contol” option (like TRULY using “Just the Safe List”) available, reesulting in *software support* — including WOPR twice yesterday — being blocked. How stupid is THAT?
I can’t help but think that it would HAVE to be a glitch, but I dunno what else I could check.
