• Non-default account in Outlook Express

Using two accounts in Outlook Express: default (which I’ll call A) and secondary, which belonged to my now-deceased husband (B). All the emails I receive are addressed to A, but when I reply, the return address says they’re coming from B. I don’t want to delete B, in case someone has only that address, but I cannot determine how to correct the problem. OS is WinXP, if that helps. Any help is appreciated!

I use two OE accounts as well and sometimes, if I’m not careful I will send out something from the wrong address. Whether you are composing new, or a reply to a message the top line of your mail is the “from”. With two accounts there should be a down arrow at the far right of the from line; click it and you should have your choice of which account you wish to use. High light it and hit enter…You should be good to go.

In Reply mode, it’s not giving me a choice. Anyway, if A is set up as the default, it should automatically show up, right? But it doesn’t.

If I understand OE correctly, it is set up to automatically reply from the account to which the mail was directed. If this doesn’t happen it suggests there may be a configuration problem. Is there someone close by (friend, relative, or neighbor) who could look at this for you? They might see something that I am missing.

If your computer is current on up dates, then the problem might be in the registry (which is a whole different issue). Have you recently run a “safe start” or “chkdsk” to see if this changes things?

Sorrry I am not of more help and good luck.

I’ll give safe start a try. Thanks.
