I tried to reinstall my purchased copy of NOD32. The installation was almost completed when I got an error message that said:
    NOD32 Setup: (121) NOD32MOD_WINNT_English_Base.
I contacted Support and they asked me to try and install in Safe Mode, which did not work. They seem to be interested in where the Temp and TMP files were located so they asked me to send them what I saw in Environmental Variables, which I just sent. Their email said that the error code meant that there was an error creating the files. That is obvious since the installation did not complete, not earth shaking news to me.

What I need is something that will fix the error code, not someone looking at Temp files.I don’t see how that information can help me install the program. Is there a fix around somewhere? I did a search on Woody’s but found no one having such a problem.

You will need to reset the Winsock Layer:

For Windows XP complete the following:

      1) Click on Start
      2) Click on Run
      3) Type in cmd
      4) Click on OK
      5) Type in netsh winsock reset

(there are spaces between the netsh and winsock and reset)

      6) Restart your PC
      7) Try a re-install

That did it, NOD32 is now my anti-virus program.

Thanks Jezza, I appreciate your help.
I can’t beleive that it was fixed on the first attempt. You hit the nail on the head with this fix.

…and also, as you are talking about temporary folders. After doing the above make sure you have these folders:

      C:WindowsTemp
      C:Documents and Settings[username]Local SettingsTemp

      where [username] is your username

Both temp folders are in the correct location. I emptied each one of all except the ones with todays date.

        Thanks again.

cool I am glad it worked. The secondary post was me covering all bases in case my first post didn’t work.

I am really glad you are virus protected now grin

You’re not half as glad as I am. The last thing I need is to catch a virus (and I don’t mean the one that gives you a temperature and makes you feel so bad).

That’s a handy fix to know; thanks Jezza.

I’ve used NOD32 for about 3 years now and am extremely impressed with it, but have never run into any of the problems that you encountered Duchess.

              Computers eh?
