    Hi,
I created a pps at work with pp 97 that has 3 wav files on 3 slides. I copied the pps file and 3 wav files and brought them home but only the first wav plays. The other 2 do not when their slide shows. The only other differences are that I have xp pro at work and xp home at home. I also have office 2003 installed along with office 97 on my home pc. I have not activated office 2003 for the 90 day trial so I start pp97 first, then open the slide show.

    Any suggestions?

    John

PPT 2003 (and 2002, also, for that matter) handles sound differently than PPT 97 does, so it’s not unusual that your sounds won’t play at home on 2003.

You can use the 97 PPT Viewer to view the file at home if you want.

Oh, you can also try the workaround described at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?…kb;en-us;832039%5B/url%5D — even though it only talks about the PPT 2003 Viewer, I think I recall that it applies to viewing the presentation in PPT 2003 as well.

You can also try turning off the new animations and transitions in PPT 2003, which effectively takes you back to “PPT 2000 mode.” (PPT 2000 handles sound much as PPT 97 does.) To do this, go to Tools/Options/Edit and click to disable “new animation features.”

Actually, I’m using 97 at home. Both are installed but I never use 2003 and never entered the code to enable it. I’m just wondering if the sound files have paths in them because the pps was on a lan. But it’s acting strange on different pc’s here at work too.

        Thanks for your suggestions.
