I know my speakers are working and I can play music CDs, but I get no sound from You Tube. I’ve installed the latest Flash Player. Any suggestions?

Hi – Have you tried the some of the things at the link in post #3 above?
        Which browser do you use?
For testing, it might be worth trying Google Chrome as the browser….
        http://www.google.com/chrome

        Good luck !!!

I’ve followed all the directions in post #3 to no avail. I’ve tried Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer. No luck in getting sound.

What operating system are you using and which version of IE, are you saying the sound has never worked or that one day it had just stopped working? If the latter can you try a system restore and see whether it restores sound as well. Do you have any other devices (e.g. headset) that could be hogging the audio? Does the audio work on all other websites, i.e. is it just YouTube and nothing else? If so it certainly is rather strange, as an experiment you could download the video to your HD using a site such as SaveTube http://www.savetube.com/ and see whether you now have sound when playing with your favourite media player.

Thank you for your suggestions. I tried savetube and downloaded a YouTube video. No sound. I did have it once and it disappeared suddenly. I get sound on music sites and other kinds of video. So strange!

I went back thru some older posts. It looks like you had this problem during Oct – Dec OF 2010.

Did you get it to work at anytime Dec 2010 – Feb 2011 ?

You are right. I was away for several weeks in January, but the problem didn’t heal itself, so here I am again.

Did you use the Flash player uninstaller from Uninstall Flash Player | Windows before upgrading to the current version?

Yes. This problem may be driving me to an iMac!

Did you close IE before uninstalling Flash? Did you re-boot after the uninstall and before the install?

Hello – Are you willing to try a couple of things in Chrome?

        If yes,
What version of Chrome do you have?
        My Chrome is 9.0.597.98

        Within Chrome, type ….
        about: plugins
        in the address bar
Note: There is no space between about: and plugins

What version of Flash does that show?
        Mine shows ….
        Flash (2 files) – Version: 10.2.154.12
        Shockwave Flash 10.2 r154

If yours are the same, try this site….
