Hi, most valuable members of this board,
our database became corrupted. So I created a new clean one, from an empty database in which I imported all objects from the most recent backup.
Now I wonder: you don’t import the system tables, right?
(Sorry for asking a possibly stupid question… I guess it’s OK, but I prefer to be sure.)
(Anyway, if you try to, the current clean new database’s system tables can’t be replaced by the imported ones from the backup, which get names like ‘…1’.)
Thanks in advance for any reply .
    Hasse

It depends on whether you display system objects or not (this is a setting in the View tab of Tools | Options).

If you do, the system tables will be imported, but they won’t overwrite the ones in the new database. A sequence number will be appended to their names, as you indicate yourself.
If you don’t (the default setting), system objects will not be imported.

(Thanks) Hans (yes, I understand, but… ) I realise now that my actual question wasn’t clear enough.

Is it OK, certainly when recovering a (possibly) corrupted database, not to import the system objects (except eventually custom ones, created by your own while developing the database)?
(Or is there any reason why or any condition under which these ‘old ones’ are needed too?)

There is no reason whatsoever to import the built-in system objects, whether the source database is corrupted or not.
