No longer remembers positions

Suddenly my taskbar and quicklaunch menus are reverting to default each time I switch on and folder windows are opening with different sizes and positions. I can’t think I’ve done anything to affect this – so does anyone recognise the problem and have an answer?
I use a reg cleaner from time to time but only to remove junk – I don’t fiddle with any of the main settings.
