Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

Hi blueboy714:
The link is broken in the newsletter. Susan’s KB6000012 is still available at https://www.askwoody.com/forums/topic/6000012-command-line-tools-to-check-the-status-of-bitlocker-encryption/.
Maybe I’m suffering a senioritis moment… Doesn’t Susan generally reference a monthly patching vulnerability summary YouTube video by a third-party vendor? A guy gives a bit of an executive summary / overview? I’ve searched the past few DEFCON posts, but can’t find it. I thought I’d bookmarked it, but perhaps it’s all a dream?
Please correct me if I am wrong. I have yet to sign into my MS account with my new PC. I already have a laptop where I disabled BitLocker a while back and Have been unable to pull up any BitLocker Key associated with my laptop. Now if I were to sign into my MS account on this PC. Should I need to get the recovery key if I am going to disable BitLocker anyway? With this latest post, I am under the assumption that the BitLocker Recovery Key isn’t that important if you disable it.
Rush,
My personal recommendation would be to Uninstall Bitlocker before logging on with a MS account and you’ll have nothing to worry about.
Should I need to get the recovery key if I am going to disable BitLocker anyway
The recovery key is created when Bitlocker is enabled so, if it’s never been enabled, there won’t be a key!
