    see http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/topics/Nimda.asp

The MS01-020 patch mentioned in that article has now been superseded by the MS01-027 patch — http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/…in/MS01-027.asp. The MS01-027 patch requires 5.01 SP2 – meaning SP2 does not contain the fix, as the article suggests.

just read woody office watch from 9/19. it recommends a patch if you are running ie 5.5 . also has a link to mcaffee where it states if you have ie 5.5 sp2, no patch is necessary. does anyone know if the patch at
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/…in/MS01-020.asp needs to be installed when ie 5.5 sp2 is already installed.
      thanks

If you try running the patch on IE 5.5 SP2, it tells you you need SP1. smile I’m fairly confident that MS rolled the patch into SP2, which was released about 5 months after the patch.

thanks for the info. i guess if I had tried to install it, the question would have been a DUH!!! but I didn’t want to take the chance of crashing ie with the patch. thanks again sorry to waste your time!!!!
