In preparation for a Windows 10 upgrade, I did a new fresh load of Windows 7 Pro SP1 to an HP netbook with no apparent problems. I can’t get the machine to update. It reports that it has never upgraded but sits there searching.

Anyone got any bright ideas?

  What sort of product key did you use to activate the new install ?
  
  Go Start – type activate windows – press enter and see what it reports.
