New Windows 11 22H2 Pro – Out of Box Experience (OOBE) Already Installed

I see KB5033055 OOBE and KB5031274 OOBE already installed.

Under Windows Update there is an option to Uninstall. I don’t see anything in the AskWoody Knowledge Base (AKB) for Windows 11 OOBE. Please rhyme in, with your thoughts about hitting the uninstall link.

These update the out-of-box experience, that is what you see on new Windows installs or major updates. They are doing no harm. Just leave them be. You’d get them anyway if you have an internet connection during a major update.

The advice here is to configure / install Windows OS disconnected from the Internet as to block any downloads during setup, create a local account, go over all settings, remove bloat apps.. and only than connect to the Internet and get updates.

This update applies only to the Windows 11 OOBE process and is available only when OOBE updates are installed.

But with the next version of Windows—likely to be called Windows 12 or Windows 11 version 24H2—it’s all changing.

In this coming system, the first-run experience is getting a visual update that matches what we see in the Windows 11 Installation Assistant. And that first screen is being replaced by three separate screens. Like so:

I manually download the patches (via another PC) to apply, before I am going back onto the Internet.

Many people do not follow that advice. They install Windows with an internet connection and a Microsoft account. I still would not worry about the patch.

Under Windows Updates no patches have been installed yet, as shown attached. It is still being setup and only was connect to the Internet because it is necessary during setup. It is current still offline.

Sounds like KB5031274 applies to Windows 11 22H2 Moment 4, Neowin.

KB5031274 is not available in the Microsoft Update Catalog whereas KB5033055 is available for a manual download.
