I should note that if you have a Surface Pro 3 (as I do), you need to take any microSD cards out of their slots before attempting the update.

That’s one of several documented problems.

There’s still a watermark on the desktop and “Expires 5/15/2-17” – which means this isn’t the final RTM version.

Of course not, Final/Official version 1703 is yet to come

 

but since build 15042 has no expiry date, you can use it forever

Naw. I don’t think so. Although it’s hard to pinpoint an RTM these days – MS releases a cumulative update coincident with the official rollout.

Also, the Setting for Pause Updates is back to 35 days.

I wonder if any new drivers (like the one we just saw) will get blocked by the quality update deferral setting.

The safer time for getting the files properly is just when WU prompts you to Restart

and it’s better that you don’t copy the files, rather paste the download directory path in the script

nonetheless, i get reports that it still fails sometimes

I realize we are having a communication problem. I have answered you on this point 3 times.

Now let me try to be clear, I have not RESTARTED YET! I was hoping you would get back to me before I clean up the files that are there. I NEVER USE MS’s Installation way. I will only install off of ISO. No ISO, No install! I will do it again with the path but I want to be able to copy the files!

Let me know what else I can do to help, I would really like this to work BUT I still want to get the FULL ESD. It wasn’t D/Ling so I tried the UUP. When I clean up I will go after the FULL ESD.

OKAY,

I did it that way, and it worked, see screenshots.

Now I have another question. What file is NOT getting copied properly. I am using “Total Commander” not Explorer. It does ask me about ‘path’ length but I say to ‘Keep it all’. I have never had this kind of problem before????

like i said, this Express UUP is basically a complete WinSxS directory
so copying too much files with some times too much long names could result in unseen errors

unfortunately, only MSFT can decide when to release FULL ESD, or control when to use Full UUP vs Express UUP

So that is all it is…. OKAY, when I was cleaning up I kept “SoftwareDistribution UUP”! So I will have it for awhile. I usually rename it to “SoftwareDistribution old”

Well unless they stop it from D/Ling this time I should be able to get it tomorrow. I turn off UUP. I am trying now but it isn’t coming yet…..

I got it right away last Build.

They don’t always release FULL ESD, not soon at least

in build 15046, it took 2 or 3 days for users to recieve it, while UUP is always instant

I know, but that is the price of my telemetry. :period: It is part of my Recovery program. In that area MS has always been very terrible at.

When is to be FULL ESD to Released, for Built 15055.0 from WU!

It is now Sunday Evening MDT, Calgary, AB. The FULL ESD has yet to be Released via WU/MU on my 15048.0 Build.
For Build 15048.0, Both UUP and Full ESD were available Immediately, why not this time?

UUP is OFF! I have don’t UUP Download already and built an ISO.

I will run the Delta ISO, that is already built when I go ahead. If it doesn’t work, then I will proceed with most reliable method for over 2 years as RP/IP. That is the Full ISO installation, which I will be run.

I must have the Full ESD before I proceed.
