User impact: Users on the new Outlook desktop experience can’t open any attachments and receive an error.
More info: The error message states, “An error occurred while opening the file. Please try again”. Users can still preview the attachments and can also download the attachments to open the file through their program of choice to circumvent this issue. Users can also leverage the old Outlook desktop experience or Outlook on the web as another alternative to open attachments.
Current status: We’re continuing to monitor the fix as it propagates to the affected environments. As it saturates, users will progressively experience relief from the impact. Please note that users may need to restart the Outlook desktop app to fully resolve the issue. We’ll provide a remediation timeline once it’s available.
