AskWoody_MVPSeptember 8, 2017 at 4:43 pm #132774I would say that KB3213656 is not a true bug as it applies to a patch about which very few people know and it is addressed to a very limited audience. KB3213656 is rather a hotfix than a true Office update.
On the other hand, the KB4011039 bug seems to be a serious issue and we will likely hear a lot more about it in the next few days. This bug is related to a widely distributed public Office 2016 update and affects a large number of people.1 user thanked author for this post.

AskWoody_MVPSeptember 8, 2017 at 5:58 pm #132780A German blog reader posted this comment on September 7, 2017, mentions update KB4011039. See also Update KB4011039 causes again Word/Outlook 2016 table bug.
I’ve asked at MS Answers and Technet forum to escalate this issue to MS Office product groups (unfortunately I haven’t the rights to do it by myself as a community moderator in German MS Answers forum).

AskWoody_MVPSeptember 9, 2017 at 6:20 am #132812Hours after my post in MS answers forum, a Microsoft employee came back with the following answer:
Done! Working on getting all the docs updated now. I’m told the Patch with the fix is targeted for October.
Let’s see, if Microsoft is fixing this issue in October 2017.

AskWoody_MVPSeptember 9, 2017 at 3:43 pm #132846By reading the documentation, it appears that the Word 2016 current update KB4011039 developers prioritised fixing the cloud functionality while not paying attention to anything else, in this case broken functionality affecting desktop users. I don’t know if this is the same issue which was encountered in the August semi-official release, because there is not much information about that release. If Googling, it appears that only Born and Woody are following those releases. I know that abbodi does too, but he does not come up in my searches.
