Looking for some help on this question
I’m trying to use the “View full map” option in my Network & Sharing Center (Using Vista Home Premium SP1).
I only regularly have one other computer on my network, a wirless connecetd laptop running XP Home SP3.
When I click on View full map, I get the following error message
windows cannot start mapping on the adapter. Please make sure the adapter is connected and enabled
This is not exactlly the clearest error message and means nothing to me.
When I check on the Help screen it suggests the following possible causes
1 Public instead of private network
2 LLTD disabled
3 Network Discovery turned off
4 The device doesn’t support the required protocols for Windows Vista. Check the information that came with the device to see if it has a Windows Vista logo. If the device has the logo, it should appear on the network map. The device or information that came with the device might also have information about the LLTD protocol or the network map.
1 and 2 do not apply, 3 appears to be the problem, and I do not understand 4
My Network Discovery Shows as Custom. When I expand the arrow, click on “Turn on network discovery” ancd accept it. nothing appears to happen, and it still shows as Custom, with the “Turn on” unticked.
Any suggestions as to what the prob might be would be welcome.
