How do I set Netscape as my default browser? Right now it’s Internet Explorer (ugh).

I can’t find the setting in the Preferences dialog, it’s probably buried in the registry. Installing the latest version probably would be the most effective strategy.

While that will take care of your default browser issue, it will create other issues you probably aren’t prepared for. I’ve heard a great deal of negative feedback on the NS product. I’m looking into resetting the default… I vaguely recall it’s been discussed here, but don’t recall the (or if there was a) solution.

I’m presuming you have Communicator. Netscape provides instructions at http://help.netscape.com/kb/consumer/19971009-21.html.

From within IE:

Tools | Options | Programs

Select: Internet Explorer should check whether it is the default

I think this stops IE being the default, and you are then possibly prompted to set NS as your default the next time you start it.
