I was hoping to see Ray Chen in the lineup. A Bach Master. Fascinating to watch his intensity and concentration when he’s performing his Art.

This brings to mind . . . there used to be a member here (maybe still is) whose username I don’t recall who frequently posted on a wide variety of music and recordings by specific artists (lots of it classical), often going back decades. It was quite a long thread, quite active with this person’s posts and responses to those posts. It seems hardly a day or two went by without some post from this member or a response to one of his posts. That appears to have stopped at some point. Does anyone know who I am referring to and what happened to them?

Yes!!! Thank you @PKCano. Sorry to see that he has withdrawn, but understandable. I do hope he is OK and doing well. Wishing him Happy Holidays (and everyone else here for that matter). Time to start going back through those two threads . . .

I listen to all kinds of music, but have a reverence for those who elevate the Art in the classical genre. And Ray Chen is at the top of the top.  His $10 million Stradivarius is only as good as the artist who plays it, and no one can play it better than Ray.

Over the past few years, I’ve also been amazed and entertained by a young teenage girl named Karolina Protsenko, who plays a flawless violin (she was considered a virtuoso at age 10) to pop music cover songs while performing a mix of modern dance and ballet. She was once a protege of Lindsey Stirling, to which Lindsey admitted on TV that Karolina was “much more talented.”  She is a joy to watch, and has 8.5 million subscribers on her You Tube channel.

Ray Chen actually did a street performance with Karolina in Santa Monica a few years ago when she was 14.  At the time, he proclaimed her “a Master.”  A year later, she was taking master-classes with Ray.  On his YouTube channel, Ray even did a short doc on pop music vs. classical music in an informal setting while highlighting his street performance with Karolina. If you’ve never seen or heard of Karolina Protsenko, the kid will blow your mind.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vp9DR4Qtv84
