Patch reliability is unclear, but widespread attacks make patching prudent. Go ahead and patch, but watch out for potential problems. |

AskWoody_MVPJune 14, 2017 at 10:55 am #120623The .NET Framework 4.7 downloads for Windows 7 SP1 were already available from the MS Download Center in early May 2017 but at least Microsoft has finally made them available on both Windows Update and Microsoft Update Catalog.

GuestJuly 7, 2017 at 12:17 pm #123756In reference to KB3186497, I have been holding off but see that if you add a D3DCompiler_47.dll file,KB4019990, it apparently works. Is is necessary to go to Net 4.7 at all? What is the purpose of Net 4.7 in simple terms? I understood that there were other issues associated with this update from reading PKCano’s comments previously or am I completely misunderstanding? Should I continue to hold off until it is clear whether after installing the D3Dcompiler_47.dll that Net 4.7 will work w/o hosing my system or that there are other issues still not resolved and I should not install this until all issues have been resolved? Please advise. Thanks
